Basic Pantomime Skills

Objective: Students will demonstrate a knowledge of movement, gesture, and emotion as used in pantomime by performing a two-minute pantomime.

Lesson Plans

Lesson 1: Basic Movement and Relaxation - Establishing Place

Students will understand the importance of relaxation and movement as it helps them portray ideas and emotions in acting by participating in several relaxation/movement activities.

Lesson 2: Emotion

Students will understand the use of face and body to convey emotion by participating in several activities where they portray and guess the emotions of others.

Lesson 3: Gestures - conveying ideas

Students will understand how gestures convey ideas in pantomime. They will demonstrate this through participation in several activities and by writing what gestures they will use in their pantomime to help convey the ideas in their story.

Lesson 4: Peer Review & Performance

Students will demonstrate a knowledge of movement, gesture, and emotion as used in pantomime by reviewing 3 other students performances and by performing their two minute pantomime for the class.
