Musical Pantomime

Objective: Students will demonstrate an understanding of musical pantomime by rehearsing and performing a musical pantomime performance.

CONTENT STANDARD 7: Analyzing, critiquing, and constructing meanings from informal and formal theatre, film, television, and electronic media productions.

Lesson Plans

Lesson 1: Intro to Musical Pantomime

Students will demonstrate an understanding of how music and story can be connected by completing a music brainstorming activity and participating in class activities and discussions.

Lesson 2: Creating a Strong Story

Students will demonstrate an ability to create a story following the Aristotelian structure by completing and submitting a plot structure diagram.

Lesson 3: Specificity and Music/Movement

Students will demonstrate an understanding of musical pantomime by working in class to develop their pantomime for preview.

Lesson 4: Preview

Students will demonstrate an understanding of musical pantomime by previewing their pantomime for peers and observing and critiquing other partnerships.

Lesson 5: Performance and Self-Reflection

Students will demonstrate an understanding of musical pantomime and performance techniques by performing their musical pantomime for the entire class and complete a self-reflection worksheet.
