Units

Curriculum units under “Tech Theatre” include topics such as the production jobs, intro to all areas of tech theatre, stages, construction, etc.

Working as a Team ~ Theatre Production Team by Content Maxwell

Students will demonstrate understanding of the members of a theatre production team and their roles and responsibilities by participating in class activities, discussions, and hands-on creative projects for specific positions on a production team. They will also demonstrate their understanding by taking a test and submitting a portfolio at the end of the unit.

Objective: Students will demonstrate an understanding of the elements of technical theatre design by completing projects in each element, creating a group skit demonstrating technical elements, and a final written test.

Unit Objective: Students will be able to demonstrate their ability to identify stage directions, parts of the stage and stage types by completing a stage terminology test.

Students will demonstrate their mastery of sound and the creation of sound by adapting and performing a scene from A Midsummer Night’s Dream using live sound effects.

Objective: The students will demonstrate their understanding on how to build structurally sound set pieces by building a soft stock flat, a stock legged-up platform, and a stock step unit in groups.

Unit Objective: Students will demonstrate their understanding of the Theatre world and the roles within the theatre world by creating a presentation of their own designs for the play 12 Angry Men.

Intro to Tech Theatre by Laura Taylor

Unit Objective: Students will be able to perform tasks in a variety of tech theatre areas by learning about what is required to be a lighting/sound designer/technician, stage manager, and resident publicist. After learning about these fields they will then complete tasks that these technicians would be required to perform for a production.
