Performance preview

Lesson #7 – Performance preview

(One to two class periods)

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVE:

Students will demonstrate their knowledge and creativity by performing their individual story-performances.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

None

HOOK:

Ask one student for a number between one and ten. Ask another student to choose “up” or “down.” Close eyes and point at the role book, then count the specific number in the chosen direction pointing at names in the role book. That person who you land on will perform his story first.

STEP ONE:

After each performance, discuss with class what they saw, and what they heard.

STEP TWO:

Assign a grade to each performance. Let each story know if they are a definite YES, a definite NO or a MAYBE as part of the final Children’s Theatre performance.

CLOSURE:

Discuss all the great things that happened on stage today.

ASSESSMENT:

Students can be assessed and graded by presenting the story they directed individually and by performing in other students stories.
